ON THIS DAY - 3rd of April

A win in 2011, Defeat in 2016

On this day in 2011, the Three Horseshoes hosted Shardlow St James at Windsor Crescent. In a final run of five matches, and a chance to finish third in the league, Horeseshoes ran out 2 - 1 winners. Wins in the following two matches proved to not be enough as they lost the final two matches of the season and Stanton won their final two matches, meaning Three Horseshoes had to settle for a fourth place finish in division 2 of the Long Eaton Sunday League.

In 2016, AFC Kirk Hallam firsts hosted local rivals, Stanton Ilkeston at the Stute in what turned out to be a fight to see who finished bottom of the Premier Division of the Long Eaton Sunday League. A goal from Marek Smith proved to not be enough and the hosts went down 2 - 1. With Stanton losing all of their remaining matches, the firsts ended up second bottom.
