Club ventures into youth football

Sunday 7th May 2017

This time last year, the new under 11's team had travelled back from Clipstone having played the first ever junior football match in the club's then 23 year history.

After two months of training and putting the side together, Dave Morley took them for their first away match. A very close game saw them take the lead through a Joel Ogden header, only for Clipstone to equalise. Oakley Ryan came off the bench to have a goal ruled out for offside. He then netted the winner minutes later, giving the lads a 2-1 win and setting them on their way to what would be a fantastic 12 months which would see them winning the Sherwood Colliery tournament in June, followed by the YEL Saturday winter division 3 red, and then the 2018 YEL spring division 2. A first year beyond any of their wildest dreams.
