The 2017-2018 under 11's team is the first step into youth football for the club.
With the aim of offering additional football to talented local young players, the team has been set up with the intention of entering the Young Elizabethan League on Saturdays. This way, players can continue to play for their existing Sunday morning youth teams (Stanton, Ilkeston, Spondon etc), while getting the vital extra football to aid in their development.
The team has been set up by a process of identifying players from these local Sunday teams who would fit into plans for the future success of the club at an adult level. These players have been invited based on not only footballing ability, but also their ability to be coached and improve as well as their social skills and their parents themselves too. If this team can be successful in both on pitch results and performances, but also in aiding player development, then these players' Sunday teams should get the benefits of this as well.
It is hoped that these players will continue through the club pathway into our senior teams when they reach 18 years of age and then stay with the club for many years to come.
Midway through the 2017/18 season, the boys have won Winter division 3 red, and are now more than holding their own in Spring division 2.
