Under 18's get better result than last seasons 6 - 1 battering
AFC Kirk Hallam u18's travelled to a wind swept Market Warsop looking to build on their good start to the season last week.
The early exchanges were tight with neither team giving to much away. However, Market Warsop broke the deadlock 20 mins in after Kirk Hallam were still re-organising from a bad injury to striker Ben Jones. It wasn’t a deserved lead and Kirk Hallam pulled level through a Riley Sinfield effort from distance. Market Warsop presses before half time to get back in front, striking the crossbar and forcing Josh Allsopp into fine reflex save. Kirk Hallam weathered the onslaught and went into the break at 1 a piece. Kirk Hallam re-shuffled the pack at half time but it had the opposite affect as Market Warsop raced back in the lead. Market Warsop pushed Kirk Hallam back but the red and yellow stripes were back in numbers and defended stoutly. The match was getting scrappy, the wind wasn’t helping. But Kirk Hallam hauled themselves back on terms again, good work on the right hand side saw Jake West race clear, his low, hard strike too good for the keeper. Now it looked like there was only going to be one winner as Kirk Hallam began to turn the screw. But then a moment of controversy as Kirk Hallam got caught short at the back, Dan Lockhart raced across to cover but was adjudged to have fouled his man with his slide tackle and the ref pointed to the spot, from which they made no mistake. That decision cost Kirk Hallam at least a point, Warsop killed the game off in the last five minutes, simply winding up an already irate Kirk Hallam.
