It was a game of two halves in this tense local derby. Stanton had the better of the early exchanges as they looked for their first points of the season.
The post had already been struck before Stanton took the lead and nearly doubled it but for a foul on Josh Allsop in the Kirk Hallam goal.
A half time reshuffle and Kirk Hallam looked more of a threat and immediately looked to get on the front foot from the off. Dan Stokes got in behind on a couple of occasions, Jake West was denied by some good defending and Regan Atkinson had a tame shot smothered by the keeper.
On 68 minutes Kirk Hallam were rewarded for their hard work as a pass from Atkinson put in Brad Mitchell who made no mistake with a cute finish with the outside of his boot.
Stanton looked to respond and a clearance on the back post by West denied Stanton regaining the advantage from a headed corner.
The game was stating to ebb and flow in both directions as both teams looked for the winner.
Bradley Draper-Harrison came closest for the visitors with a hooked effort that went wide and Allsop got down well to keep out an effort at his near post.
