Kirk Hallam travelled to Etwall to play second placed Hilton and after an impressive opening half an hour we were 3 nil up.... Had it not been for some dodgy home linesman decisions it could and should have been at least a couple more.
Nick Giz found Ian Bobby Trueman who slotted home after rounding the keeper after 9 mins.
Just a few minutes later and it was Giz who ran on to a great flicked header from Paul Scattergood to double the lead.
Scatts was having a great time and was influential in many of our moves, it was fitting that on 35 minutes his powerful drive from the edge of the box would make it 3.
Hilton had caused next to nothing on our goal but on half time Scott Morris tried to intercept a pass and couldn't and their forward finished at the second opportunity.
Hilton had a go in the second half and although they created few chances half way through the second half they scored a second after a poor mistake where we gave a cheap ball away.
It was far from a one goal lead game, but Hilton had to be credited with fighting back. Kevin Banwell gave us breathing space again with just 3 minutes left tapping in from close range.
In injury time the hosts added a third from a corner.
Scatts and Nick Gill excelled for us but the former had to be withdrawn with injury and will miss our quarter final next week.
