Brampton 1 - AFC Kirk Hallam 4
By Dave Morley
Cup holders knocked out
Chesterfield outfit and Cup holders were brushed aside by an impressive team performance by the lads, who progress to the semi finals.
Changes were made from last week to try to eradicate mistakes against a potentially tricky side.
Andy Flindall dropped in to full back and with the influential Nick Gill missing, Steve Gomm made a very impressive debut in the middle with Giz.
The home side were physical In the middle and could play but the Kirk Hallam boys possessed the same qualities plus a bit more.
While we have the boys to play some attractive football we can also mix it and with a few big lads we cause a few problems from set pieces.
From an eighth minute corner an unmarked Scott Morris on the back stick smashed home the opening goal.
Giz hit the bar with a free kick but then unfortunatly Bobby Trueman had to be withdrawn with a muscular injury... Paul Boyle replaced him.
Marek Smith might have had a penalty but it wasn't given.
The skipper ensured we would be comfortable at half time with a solo effort with close attention from several defenders trying to muscle him off it. Needless to say Giz left 3 of them on their arses.
HT 0 - 2
On the hour Gommy was able to convert a Boyles corner and just after this he saw the keeper pull off a great save to deny the big lad a second.
In the dying minutes Brampton got a consolation with a neat finish from their best player, but Vaughn Hallsworth had the final say running on to a long ball before rounding the goalie to seal the win.
Further ties saw West Bridgford and Kimberley progress and Wollaton and Eastwood are still to play their tie.
This week we travel to Holbrook to chase 3 more points that will see us close in on wrapping the title up in the next few games.
