AFC Kirk Hallam 9 v 0 Priory Celtic
Kirk Hallam are now the highest scorers in all 8 of the EMVL leagues after this emphatic thrashing of their local rivals.
Due to a heavy pitch at the Stute it was agreed to play the fixture at the opposition's 4g pitch in Kimberley, a pitch where the sides shared a 1-1 draw earlier in the season.
Kirk Hallam we're relatively slow to score the opener this time, Ten minutes had passed before Bobby Trueman finished a move of sheer class which involved Steve Gomm and Nick Ghizlanzoni.
Twenty minutes later and the lads had hit five more.....
Paul Scattergood, who had missed an earlier chance but had impressed again with his workrate got on the end of a Gomm header across goal on 15 mins.
Vaughn Hallsworth raced through to score on 17, before Andy Flindall drove in a left foot drive a minute later.
The fifth was a second for Trueman as he ran on to a Jay Pringle punt to lob the advancing keeper.
Steve Gomm converted a pinpoint Ghizlanzoni cross for a sixth in just 27 minutes.
Changes were made to protect the lads for the next game... The semi final of the cup.
Nick Gill, Jason Bowler and Mark Whitehead all came on.
Priory hadn't troubled the Kirk Hallam goal but hit the bar early in the second half.
Trueman chasing a hat trick then saw efforts hit the posts three times on separate occasions.
Kevin Banwell made it seven on 50 minutes after a run down the left from Hallsworth.
Wayne Clarke came on and had the last 25 minutes and might of notched too.
Priory had had the stuffing knocked out of them and had been truly softened up by the time a bespectacled gaffer Darryl Peck entered the field and scored his first brace in twenty years to rub salt in the wound and make it nine.
A second consecutive clean sheet too at the back needs mentioning... Darren Taylor rarely gets a mention but alongside Scott Morris and then Jason Bowler in the second half he had a solid game.
Another point will crown us champions and that will wait until after this Sunday's semi at Calverton MW against Kimberley Miners Welfare. Please note an earlier 13.00 kick off.
