AFC KH Vets 3 v 1 Mickleover RBL Vets
By Dave Morley
Vets go two out of two
A number of squandered chances and a comical consolation goal for Mickleover meant that the outcome was a lot closer than it needed to have been.
Both sides were promoted together last season and the hosts knew there would be some tough battles until they could open up the visitors.
It took 32 minutes before the deadlock was broken, Scott Morris
found Nick Gill
who crossed for Steve Gomm to bag the opener.
3 minutes later and Gill again was the provider, this time crossing for Marc Booth
to head home.
Mickleover we're always troublesome without penetrating or causing any real scares, so when Booth combined with Gomm on 55 minutes the tall striker drove in his 4th in two games which gave Kirk Hallam a three goal lead..... It was to last only a minute or two...Bryan Waplington
had had little to do but a long range effort had the keeper backtracking to his line but in his effort to retreat he fell backwards and could only watch the ball sail in.
Kirk Hallam held out to make it two from two and will next play on the 7th Oct away to Punjab Veterans.
